A leading manufacturer and exporter of wood filler has moved to induction cap sealing to extend its product’s shelf life.

Chemfix, a UK-based company, wanted to increase customer satisfaction by reducing the risk of the end user opening its water-based wood filler and finding it had been exposed to atmosphere and had started to dry.

Paul Banks, Purchasing and Supply Director at Chemfix, said: “We were looking for a way to apply a hermetic seal to our containers, to protect our product from the external atmosphere.

“We wanted to reduce the risk of the material drying out inside the container and the customer not being able to use it properly.”

After being recommended Enercon Industries’ induction cap sealing equipment by their packaging supplier, Chemfix contacted Enercon to arrange a sealing trial.

The trial was successful and resulted in Chemfix purchasing one of Enercon’s best-selling machines, the Super Seal™ 75.

Mr Banks said: “Before moving to induction, we just applied caps to our containers, but we felt we could enhance the quality of our product through adding a hermetically sealed cap.

“Having made the change, the results confirm that the sealed container provides a significant improvement in product shelf life and quality for the customer.”

Speaking about Enercon Industries, he added: “I would recommend Enercon Industries to other manufacturers, both for product performance and the benefits gained from the use of its sealing equipment.”
